Finally, a break from work!

After having to go back to work when the twins were just barely 2 months old, I’ve been longing to spend more than just a weekend with them.  Now the twins are 5 and 1/2 months old and I’m so grateful that this Thanksgiving I got to spend an entire week with them.  They’ve grown so much both physically and mentally.  Emory rolls over (one direction only) and Elizabeth can pivot on her back and … Continue reading

No, that’s not a beach ball under my shirt!

It’s two little babies who look more and more ready to come out. I’m 37 weeks today and finally off my meds and bed rest. Greg took this picture today in our back yard. Afterwards, we went to go get Mexican at a local taqueria. When I walked in, there was a little girl who looked at me and her mouth dropped. Maybe I shouldn’t go out in public? I’m starting to scare little children. … Continue reading

The Twins’ Nursery

The nursery is just about ready! We still need the mattresses (coming later this week) and there are pictures we still want to hang on the walls too. However, it is looking great thanks to all of the gracious gifts we’ve received from so many family members and friends.

31-Week Ultrasound

Having just passed the 31-week mark, I went in for another ultrasound to measure the babies and check-up on their progress. Both my mother and mother-in-law went with me. They were both excited to see their future grand-babies! Elizabeth weighed 3lb 8oz and Emory weighed 3lb 4oz. The doctor said that the difference in their weight is not a problem. That, sometimes, twins just get stuck in weird positions that make it easier or harder … Continue reading

For my beloved students

The Friday before Spring Break I told all of my students to have a great week and that I’d see them after the break.  I hoped to stay with them through 5 de mayo so we could have a final fiesta and then say “adios.” However, due to the bed-rest and my inability to return to work, I was a bit sad that I did not get to officially say goodbye to my students.  Then, … Continue reading

Spring Break

My spring break did not go exactly as I had planned.  I had planned to stay at home and take care of Romeo as he recovered from surgery.  I planned to clean my house and organize the nursery.  However, I ended up being in the hospital Monday through Wednesday and then, when I returned, I was sent home on bed rest. Fortunately, I have some of the best family and friends in the world!  Greg … Continue reading

Harvey

It seems like there are a lot of posts about the twins and Romeo but hardly anything about our big, black ball of fur – Harvey.  Harvey was the first pet that Greg and I got when we moved into our house in Carmichael.  We inherited him from my Great-Aunt Flora when she passed. She firmly believed that every home needs a cat and wanted to make sure we had the right one.  And Harvey … Continue reading

Home and Resting

God is great!  The pre-labor hormone test they gave me on Wednesday in the hospital came back negative.  I got to go home and the twins are still developing and growing inside of me.  The doctor gave me more medication to reduce my “irritable uterus” which keeps having contractions and I am on strict bed rest. However, who can complain?  My husband is taking great care of me – cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, doing laundry, … Continue reading

48 Hours

Early Monday afternoon I went to get an ultrasound. Immediately following that ultrasound, they had me report to Labor & Delivery at Sutter Roseville’s Family Birthing Center. Once there, they monitored the babies’ heartbeats and my contractions. Although I didn’t feel any contractions, they said I was having them and decided to keep me for 48 hours of observation. Tomorrow I find out whether or not I get to go home… where I will be … Continue reading
